About the Owner
Rachel Wion is the owner and designer for Cricket Designs. The company name is derived from the nickname given to her as a child by her paternal grandmother when she used to sit in the corner and sing.
Rachel created Cricket Designs to combine her talents as a graphic designer, artist, writer, editor, project manager, customer service representative, market researcher, print production and vendor coordinator, proofreader, printshop liaison, problem solver, and business administrator.
Many may remember her as a prior award-winning journalist and reporter for the Telegraph-Forum Newspaper in Bucyrus, Ohio. Rachel moved to the Dallas Fort Worth, Texas area in June 2000 and worked her way up to the position of Managing Editor at SHOP Magazine in Dallas.
Later trying her hand in corporate communications in the financial industry, Rachel worked with 401(k) plans as a project manager in web and print communications. This gave her specialized experience in FINRA, SEC, and Sarbanes Oxley regulations. Managing these projects included processes from edits through legal review, and selection of paper stock. During this time, Rachel was certified as a Defined Contribution Plan Specialist, and became Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified. It was also at this time that she started working with graphic design and realized how much she enjoyed it.
